Practical Scrappers February Sketch Reveal

Recently, I've been working a lot with sketches. They got me out of my funk and I started scrapbooking more and more. Sketches are a great starting point to give you some mojo. Then just add your own twist and you're good to go!

This month at Practical Scrappers, we have this wonderful sketch by Christine Meyer to get you going.

And here's my take on it:

I took this picture via Instagram in the Summer after Zoey came out of the pool. I sat on the deck, wrapped her in a towel and kept her warm in my arms.  I've made a huge effort to be in more pictures with my kids. When I'm gone, I'm sure they'll be happy to have pictures of me no matter how bad I might think I look.

As you can see, I embraced the heart theme. I used a large stencil and some Dylusions for the large heart and created 3D paper hearts.

As for this Bella Blvd collection? I love every single piece of it! It's full of happy!! So fun to work with.

Make sure you check out what else the DT has come up with, and don't forget to share your own layouts with us!

Supplies:
Papers, stickers, letters: Bella Blvd (Snapshots)
Frame: Jillibean Soup
Dylusions spray

Peek Into Christmas

Here it is, my last layout of the year 2013. I took this picture of Zoey a bit earlier in the month and I couldn't wait to scrap it!

I used a sketch from the always awesome Kristine Davidson for Creative Scrappers. It's sketch #257. I stayed almost 100% true to the sketch, something I rarely do, but I appreciated the simplicity today! No muss, no fuss, just a sweet memory down on paper :)

Supplies:
Papers and stickers: Bella Blvd
Letters: American Crafts and BasicGrey
Wood veneers: Studio Calico, Prima, and Creative Embellishments

My Life Is Amazing With You In It

Good morning everyone, I hope life is treating you well.  It's already December 1st, it's amazing, isn't it?  I'm really in the spirit of the holidays this year.  I think it's because almost all our gifts are done, which means we wont be scrambling at the last minute in over-crowded stores.  We get to relax and enjoy everything!

Here's another layout I have to share with you.  I decided to use butterfly masks by Studio Calico and have lots of fun with them!  I used papers and stickers from Bella Blvd.  See, I was a blog winner of their new Miniature stickers (I love them, I've been using them on pretty much every layout since receiving them!) and they also sent me some of their papers.  Thanks Stephanie!

I had fun with twine from The Twinery.  I put a bit of Tombow liquid glue on my fingers and ran them the length of my cut twine.  I then rolled it up around a plastic straw (sorry, I didn't think of taking picutres as I was doing this).  I then let it dry very well, a good 24 hours.  Then I unrolled it and was left with adorable curly twine.  It kind of has a waxy feel to it, and it completely keeps its shape.

Here is my journaling. Click to see it better.

It's Official!

Good morning everyone!

My blog post today has a dual purpose.  First, it's the title of my layout.  Second, I can now officially announce that I was asked to join the Practical Scrappers design team!  I'm thrilled because I get to join my awesome pal Erin on the DT!

Here's my first layout for Practical Scrappers.  My challenge?  To use a collage.  I chose a template from Scrapbooks Etc. and finally used pictures from Sean's first haircut.  Yes, he was five years-old before he got his first official haircut.  Before that, I'd trim it myself.  With his curls, you couldn't tell if I did a bad job, LOL!

Because They Say So! **Bella Blvd**

**ETA** I have a layout featured on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog. You can check it out here.**

*****************************************

Morning everyone!

Sarah Hodgkinson issued a challenge on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog.

Step one was to pick one of the sketches that Becky Fleck has provided in the spring 2010 issue of SCT. I chose this one:

Step two was to head on over to Color Lovers and search through the colour palettes until I found one that appealed to me. It was my first time starting a layout from a colour palette. I chose this one:
cheer_up_emo_kid

And here is the result. The slate looked more black to me last night for some reason. And I took the liberty of toning down the green a bit.

Supplies:

Patterned paper: Bella Blvd (Flirty, Super Stud, Honey I'm Home and Swing Into Spring), My Mind's Eye (Wild Asparagus)

Letter stickers: American Crafts Puffy Thickers (Bumble)

Brads: American Crafts

Ribbon: SEI

Flowers: WRMK (Tiffany) and Prima

Punch: Fiskars

Pen: American Crafts

My Best Friend Is... **Bella Blvd**

Good Monday morning everyone! What are you up to today?

I have quite a lot to do in the house today since we decided to take it really easy this weekend. Lots of laundry, dusting, and the usual picking up to do. Not to mention Monday is the day i change the sheet on all the beds... I hate that task, but I must say it's always sooo nice to get into bed on Monday nights with fresh linens!

Here's a layout I made last week with Bella Blvd's Estate Sale collection. I love Bella Blvd. LOVE it!

And, as usual, a great quote from one of my kids. This time, it's Sean:

As always, I used my trusty Tombow glue for this layout, so I'm going to enter it in their march challenge.

Other supplies:
Papers: Bella Blvd
Letters: Bella Blvd

February '10 - Project 12

Scrapbook and Cards Today got together with Becky Fleck at PageMaps to create Project 12. Basically, it's a nudge to have us make a layout a month about what that month has been like. Whether you took 30 photos, 2 photos or none at all, it's all about putting it down on the page. Becky provides a sketch every month that you can use, but it's not mandatory. This was the sketch for the month of February:

I decided to use her sketch and I stayed quite true to it. I like to modify sketches usually, but 2-pagers are difficult for me, so I just stuck to this!

Now that I'm writting this post, I just realized I never posted my January layout. I will fix that this week!

Supplies:

Papers: Bella Blvd

Letter stickers: American Crafts and KaiserCraft

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics

Journaling spots: Jillibean Soup and Luxe Designs

Chipboard heart (covered): American Crafts

Punch: Fiskars

Pen: Staedtler

Bella Blvd Layouts

Bella Blvd just had a call for Bella Artistas, which is a cool and fancy way to say Guest Design Team member. ;) I love their papers, so I thought I'd give it a shot. For my family members who can't tell head from tails in the world of scrapbooking, a Guest DT member is there only for a month, as opposed to the entire year.

I thought I'd share with you the 3 layouts I made for my submission. I really like these, they represent me very well.

First off, "The Dress". This dress cracks me up! I believe my cousin Nathalie is the one who gave me this dress for Kira. I love the ruffles, lol! I made this layout last month at an all-day crop at NoƩmi's. I used the "Plastino" collection here.

I started the next layout at the same crop, but finished it only recently. Simple does not mean fast, lol! I used a mix of "Sweet Celebration" and "Swing Into Spring" collections.

Finally, here's "Give Me a Wink". I used the "Super Stud" collection, the line with the cutest robots around, lol! The background is from Pebbles.

Well, wish me luck, they are making their decision this week.

i have entered these layouts in the Tombo January Online Contest, go ahead and check it out here!
