Christmas Photoshoot

First off, I need to mention that my kids are awesome! They were total troopers, incredibly patient, even when my battery died and I had to switch it out. Thanks kids! I guess they are used to being a scrapbooker's kids, LOL!

Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker DT call!!!

We are happy to announce that we are looking for TWO talented people to join our design team!!! If you think you could be one of them, then please show us what you can do! Is your forte' altered items, cards or layouts? We want to see them. Give us some examples of your best work. We would "love" for you to use Nikki's products, but we realize Nikki's still new to the industry - not every one is carrying her products yet. However, after CHA in January they will not be able to resist adding her products to their stores!

Ok, on with the show. Here is what we would like from you: a list of publications, design teams you are on or have been on and some examples of your work. Don't worry. We are looking for talent and for people we feel fit in with Nikki's products. You do not need to be published or on a design team.

We also realize this is the holiday season. Life can get a little hectic. Then there might be some of you hurrying to get projects done for CHA as well. Keeping that in mind, we are giving you until January 25th to get your submission to us. We will be announcing our two new design team members on January 31st. This will be a short term, as we are filling up two vacant spots. Your term will be from February to May, which is a four month term. This is when the current team's term ends as well. In May we will be posting a new call.

A few recently published layouts

Hello everyone! In the past few months, things have been so busy! What with the beginning of school, our water damage and now preparations for Christmas... I had all but given up on submitting my work for publication. I simply did not have the time or the patience to keep track of everything. I only submitted my design team work. Recently, however, I decided it was time to get back in the swing of things. Let's face it: it's a thrill to see a layout of ours in a magazine!

So I've been updating my Scrapbook Resume and I realized there are a few layouts that were published that I never shared with you. Some of them might've been shown here already, but my memory is weak these days so you'll forgive me if that happens!

First off, here are the 2 layouts that appeared in the reprint of Canadian Scrapbooker's Basics Volume 1, back in September.

The first is a layout that was created quite a while ago. CS used it in the "brads" section of their special issue. This is Kira in Cuba in January 2008. *sigh* I wish I was there right now, lol!


You know what is amazing about scrapbooking? Other than the fun of creating and the memories we are preserving, I mean? It's the memories we make while we are creating! If you are a scrapbooker like me, I'm sure you can remember where a lot of your layouts were created. For instance, I made the following layout during a Saturday crop at my friend Bella's house. I can still remember where I was sitting, who was there, how much we talked and laughed... It's amazing to have all these memories.


This next layout appeared in the September issue of Scrapbook Trends. I love this layout! I remember making this at a Friday night crop at Scrapbook Centrale. Erin gave me the little owl sticker because it fit so well!

Finally, here is my first pub in the french-Canadian mag Scrapbook Extra. It appeared in the September/October issue. It was also my first Scrap Within Reach publication, so that was quite exciting!

I'd like to introduce you to Nikki Sivil, Scrapbooker's Valentine line, U R My Favorite. I love the mix of pink and orange! And wait until you see the adorable frog! :)


I used some bling from a Prima frame, cut it up and added it to this heart to jazz it up:


And now the journaling. I just tell my daughter how proud I am to be her mother. I don't enjoy writing "generic" journaling like this. You know me, I love having a story to tell. But what's done is done, I guess!

Nikki Sivils Blog Post Day

Hello everyone!

I'll be hosting the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog on the 5th of each month. I can't wait to share my "Nikki" work with you, as I like to call it! You'll come to see that I am one of the "simple scrappers" in the bunch. As a simple scrapper, I love Nikki's papers because they speak on their own. They are so beautiful and colorful that not much else is needed to make something special. Case in point:


As you can see, this card is made of paper exclusively, no embellishment whatsoever. All that was needed were a few punches and some pop-dots!

Here is the layout I made for the DT challenge back in November. This is my take on "A holiday memory". No picture needed, just beautiful papers and lots of words. This layout is 8x8.


I also made this layout about my dad, who I lost 3 years ago, using the mini-paddies of all 6 collections. I had this vision in my mind, I really like how it turned out! A little ink brings it all together.

And my ever-trusty butterfly punch makes another appearance here. I love how we can use tiny scraps to embellish a page!
