SWAT # 20 - Sketch using feathers

It's another great week over at SWAT. This week we had to use the following sketch from PageMaps, and we had the extra challenge of using feathers on our layout.

I love this Echo Park collection by Lori Whitlock. The colours are gorgeous! I'm happy that I also got to use one of Jillibean Soup's awesome Polaroid frames.

As for the feathers, the collection was perfect because it had a paper full of feathers as well as feather stickers. But my favorite part? That washi tape feather! I went to a Lucky7Factory crop in September and this handmade feather was part of the welcome kit. It makes me want to make my own with all the washi tape I own and some thin wire. Super cute!

Make sure to link up for this challenge in the sidebar of the SWAT blog. You could be our next winner!

S.W.A.T. Drill #13 - Trendy Triangles

I'll be honest with you. I've been so busy in the last 6 months that I haven't really looked at scrap magazines and/or scrap blogs. So when I saw that this week's drill was called Trendy Triangles, I thought: "Triangles are trendy?" So I decided to look around and I realized I had been living under a rock, lol!

So I happily tackled this trend in my usual clean and simple style.

I am really happy with how this turned out. This is one of my favorite pictures of Zoey, and I wanted to do it justice. I probably wouldn't thought of the triangles if it wasn't for this drill, so I'm really glad I did it!

Oh, and those amazing wood chips by Freckled Fawn? I squealed when I saw them at my local scrapbook store. I had been wanting to order them from FF, but they were always out of stock. I used them the very same day I bought them :)

Make sure you take on this Trendy Triangles drill and share it with us on the SWAT blog for a chance to win a 20$ gift card to 3 scrappy boys!

Supplies:
Papers and stickers: Here and Now collection by Lori Whitlock for Echo Park
Wood chips: Freckled Fawn
Dylusions spray
Prima chalk ink

Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate it!

S.W.A.T. Drill #12: Sketch With a Twist

Hello everyone! We have a great challenge for you over at the SWAT blog.  First, begin with this awesome sketch by our own Lanette:

Then, don't forget this twist: patterned paper only, NO cardstock!

This is my version of this sketch:

I love using patterned paper as a background. Visually, I like it better than plain cardstock. I decided to use this old-but-oh-so-awesome star paper from Scenic Route (oh how I loved SR!) I bought every sheet I could when they were in the store, and this is my second to last sheet. I love it!

The rest of the papers are from My Mind's Eye, the Collectable collection (Notable colour scheme, I believe). Jillibean Soup letter stickers for the title, WRMK star roller stamp, Sharpie white pen for the stars, a bit of Bella Blvd paper tape and Voila!

Make sure to enter your own version of this challenge on the SWAT linky by July 28th to be entered to win a Webster's Pages grab bag!

S.W.A.T. Drill #11: Neon

Have you noticed that neon is back? Yes, 80's neon! It everywhere in clothing stores, and it's even spreading to scrapbooking. Today at S.W.A.T. we are giving you some inspiration to help you use some of those bright colours in your next project! Check it out at this link. Make sure you link up your own neon project at the SWAT blog for a chance to win a Boys Rule kit!

This is my layout:

I decided that less was more in this case. Before I even started, I knew there would be a lot of white space in my layout; I didn't want the colours to be overwhelming. I picked a couple of Dylusions sprays, punched stars, washi tape and strips of brightly-coloured paper and VoilĂ ! I really like the neon with that picture of Kira and Ethan, my friend Erin's son (the pic is from 2010, the layout is new!)

Supplies:
Cardstock: American Crafts
Papers: Doodlebug Designs
Sprays: Dylusions (Fresh Lime and Squeezed Orange)
Letters: American Crafts
Paper frill: Doodlebug Designs
Punches: EK Success
Washi tape: unknown
