What Our Summer Looks Like - SWAT Design Team

This week's challenge over at SWAT was to scrap about our summer. This layout definitely pinpoints what most of my summer was about. The girls and their friends! They spent their whole vacation together. Our place. Their place. Our pool. Their jungle gym. Makeup. Dress up. Playing Mommy. They sure had a great time!

Make sure you link up with SWAT if you take on this challenge. We'd love to see what you come up with!

I used a sketch from My Scraps & More. thanks for the inspiration!

Papers: Studio Calico (South of Market), Echo Park (Capture Life)

Stay Cool

Summer is here and I couldn't be happier about it! I must admit I HATE the heat since I sweat like a pig on those hot days (something hormonal changed in me when I gave birth to Kira, and I haven't been the same since), but I still LOVE summer. Weird, huh? My favorite part is definitely swimming in the pool with the kids, and then taking it easy in the gazebo.  Sometimes we have treats, too!

These pictures are from May 2010. Sean was 6-years-old back then. He sure was enjoying his Drumstick!

I love the #summer collection from American Crafts. So fun and bright, it was perfect for these photos!

I am entering this layout in the Stuck?! June 15th challenge.

Thanks for dropping by! ♥

Kiddie Pool - American Crafts (#summer)

I fell in love with this collection by American Crafts, #summer. The colours are awesome and they inspired me to finally scrap these adorable pictures of Kira from 2010!  I used the Stuck?! Sketch May 1st Challenge as a starting point for this.

She Is Beautiful

Just like you, I'm sure, I have an insane stash of papers and embellishments. I've been trying to organize my scrap corner and found these awesome papers from Fancy Pants that I got last year. Then I found an ephemera pack from Pink Paislee and they worked perfectly together. I love when that happens!

I am entering this in the February sketch challenge for Life. Paper. Scrapbook.

Supplies:
Papers and stickers: Fancy pants (Park Bench)
Die-cuts and other stickers: Pink Paislee (Portfolio)
Polaroid frame: Jillibean Soup
Letters: American Crafts and Simple Stories

Water Boy - Life. Paper. Scrapbook. Sketch

Here's a colourful layout inspired by the January sketch of Life. Paper. Scrapbook.  As soon as I saw it, I thought of patchwork and how long it had been since I did something similar on a layout. These awesome Doodlebug papers were great for these pics of Sean from May 2010.

Supplies:
Papers: Doodlebug Design (Day to Day)
Sewing stamp: We R Memory Keepers
Letters: American Crafts
Stickers: My Mind's Eye and Momenta
Flair: Simple Stories
Chipboard circle: Heidi Swapp

Jump - Sketchabilities #107

Here's a layout using an old picture of Kira (from 2011). She was learning how to jump rope and I was jealous of the look of her hair here (I mean, c'mon, I don't even have a quarter that much hair on my head!!)

I took inspiration from sketch #107 on Sketchabilities.

Papers are from BasicGrey;
Die cuts from October Afternoon;
Wood veneer from Studio Calico;
Tags from Chic Tags.

Dive In - Ten Things... Pratical Scrappers

We're back with Ten Things over at Practical Scrappers! Make sure to check out the link to see what everyone came up with using felt.

I decided to simply "dress up" my old pieces of Fancy Pants felt by wrapping twine around them. Gives them a fun new look!

Can't Help but Love You

Hello everyone, it's been a while, hasn't it?  I've been scrapping, but simply couldn't get around to posting.  Hopefully I can make it more regularly.

Here's a layout I made this past summer for Scrapbook Centrale to showcase Pebbles Inc. Sunnyside collection.

Speaking of Pebbles Inc., have you seen their new collection Seen & Noted? I love it, the colours are gorgeous!  Hopefully I'll get to share a layout with those papers soon :)

Proud Canucks

How was your Canada Day yesterday?  We had a great time, most of the day was spent in the pool.  We had friends come over for dinner, good hamburgers and hot dogs on the BBQ.  The kids playing and tuckered themselves out, while the parents had good conversation :)

We had our second annual Canada Day photoshoot, it turned out pretty good. Maybe you can help me out.  Keith likes the first one, I prefer the second.  What's your opinion?

Here's one of the kids only.  This is the best I could do, Zoey's wiggly :) Kira was trying to keep her still.

Here a layout I made for Practical Scrappers using last year's picture. Isn't it fun to compare the two? Sean lost some hair while Zoey gained some, lol!

I absolutely love the chevron/patchwork paper from Simple Stories.  Thoese butterflies were punched out of some old jeans, courtesy of my friend Erin :)  I also used 2 Elle's Studio tags, my new addiction!

Supplies:
Cardstock : Bazzill Basics
Patterned paper: Simple Stories
Tags: Ele's Studio and 4 heures 37
Letters: American Crafts and Jenni Bowlin Studio
Pearl pen

Camping '10

The pictures used on this layout are from July 2010.  I am not a fan of multi-multi-photo layouts.  Not because I don't like the look of them, but because I can't seem to get design ideas for that many pictures.  So I browsed Page Maps and discovered this sketch:

I tweaked it a bit, but pretty much stayed true to the original design.

Materials:
-Bazzill Basics cardstock (Java)
-American Crafts' Campy Trails patterned paper (Elk Creek Trail, Sweetwater Cabin, Timberline Resort)
-American Crafts' Printed Chipboard Thickers (Forest)
-American Crafts' Chipboard Border Accent Stickers (Pine)
-American Crafts' Bits Tags (Campy Trails)
-October Afternoon Road Map Journal card
-Hero Art Shadow Ink (Cup O' Joe)
-Staedtler pen

Around and Around

I made this a while ago and didn't post it because I didn't have time to write my supply list.  I still don't, so I'm posting it as-is :)  These pictures are from 2009.

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

Dipping Into Summer

I don't get to scrap much these days.  My days are full with the kids, and I'm just too tired in the evenings.  I tend to crash and just go on Facebook and play Scrabble and Words With Friends!  The only time I've been scrapping for the past few months has been on Friday nights with the girls.  So I needed to find something that would kick me in the butt to get up and scrap!

I joined an 8-week challenge over at Let's Capture Our Memories.  We had to scrap about a season and have that season in the title.  I'm not sure this will qualify because it's not about a season, but I didn't want to make a layout that had no meaning to me, even for a challenge.  At least, it got me scrapping.

I also decided to combine this with a challenge from Love My Tapes.  The prize is assorted LMT goodies, and I would love that!  Their fabric and lace tapes are gorgeous!  We had to take inspiration from this picture:

It really inspired all the paper choices, from colour to prints.  The American Crafts Flair Badge in the "O" has pretty pink flowers on it.  And you can't see it very well, but there is a ruffled ribbon on the top left that reminds me of the softness of flower petals.  I love it!  Here's the link to the challenge if you want to give it a go.

Materials:
-Patterned paper: My Mind's Eye Lush (Green Houndstooth RV); MME So Sophie Best Thing (Ledger Girl for matting); MME Be Loved (Beautiful Branches); MME So Sophie Pretty Girl (Persistent Bloom)
-American Crafts Foam Thickers (Rootbeer Float)
-Journaling Spot: October Afternoon Stickers (Duck in a Row)
-American Crafts Flair Badge (Good Golly)
-Ribbon: Crate Paper Trims (Neighborhood)
-Washi Tape: Hambly
-Rub-ons: October Afternoon (Fly a Kite border)
-Ink: Quick Quotes (Maraschino Cherry)

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

Sweet Laugh

This picture of my sweet Kira was taken back in May 2010.  I remember that day clearly.  We were at Sean's softball game and Little Miss was running around in the grass having the time of her life.  When she started rolling in the grass, laughing, I snapped this picture.  This is so her!

Materials:

Cardstock: Bazzill (Java)
Patterned Papers: Jillibean Soup
Letters: American Crafts
Journaling spot: My Little Shoebox
Pleated and sewn cardstock: Bazzill
Martha Stewart punch
Gems: Doodlebug Designs
Viva Decor Paint Pen
Butterfly rub-ons: Studio Calico
Pen: Staedtler
Pom-poms: Erin's stash ;)

It Was the Summer of 2010... - My Mind's Eye

I made this for Practical Scrappers.  The subject was "little girls".  This little girl is the best around, and I love this picture of her!  Check out all the other project here.
