For the Sake of Art

I'm trying more and more to mix and match paper collections and/or manufacturers. Here, I used three: Pink Paisley, the pinkish background (thanks Noémi, you are sweet!), October Afternoon, the aqua with white polka dots and Sassafras Lass, the adorable strip with mushrooms on it. Somehow, it makes me feel good to mix things that weren't necessarily intended to be put together. Caro does this really well.

I used SBE's Quick Collage Template #201 and cropped out the spaces I didn't need, then reduced the size to make it fit on a 5x7. I will definitely be doing this again!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Generic;
Patterned paper: Pink Paisley, October Afternoon, Sassafras Lass;
Letter stickers: American Crafts;
Sticker: Bazzill Chip Toppers;
Round Embellishment: American Crafts Flair;
Pen: American Crafts;
Digital element: Scrapbook Etc. Quick Collage Template # 201 http://www.scrapbooksetc.com/quick-collage/quick-collage-200-series_ss1.html
Other: Pop-dots;

Woo Hoo, an exciting pub for me!

Finally!
Scrapbook Extra, the french-Canadian magazine, has requested a layout for their October/November 2009 issue.
Not any layout.
A Scrap Within Reach layout!
It's my first SWR publication since I've been on the design team.
It makes this pub extra special!

Thanks for stopping by♥

The T-Shirt **Scrap Within Reach**

Love, love, love how this turned out! I made it (well, I started it) at last Friday's evening crop at my lss. It's a group effort, because most of the flowers and the buttons come from JJ, the Bazzill frill from Erin and the American Crafts Flair button from Noémi! Thanks girls, greatly appreciated! I love my friends!

I used Scrap Within Reach's "Emerson" collection for this. The border is the reverse side of Freckles and the stripes are Sweet Pea. It's hard for me to choose my favourite SWR collection, but this one really is a the top of my list!

And here's the journaling. my mom told me she'd like to be able to read it more clearly, I hope it helps!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics in Lily White;
Patterned paper: Scrap Within Reach "Emerson" collection in Freckles and Sweet Pea;
Letter stickers: American Craft Fabric Thickers;
Circle Embellishment: American Crafts' Flair;
Journaling spot: October Afternoon;
Felt Embellishment: Basic Grey;
Bird Embellishment: Sandylion;

Shake That Booty - American Crafts

I love the American Crafts challenges. Not only is there a chance to win some AC goodies, but it also helps me make a dent in my AC stash! :) The challenge this week is to make a layout inspired by music. It made me scrap this little tid-bit of Kira's life that might've never made it on a page otherwise.

This seems to be my "go-to" design when I'm not sure what to do. A picture, a few strips of paper and a title in the "empty" spot. I think it's okay to stick with what works. After all, each page ends up with its own "personality".

At first, I wasn't a fan of the swirl paper that I used below the picture. I had the idea to just cut a little swirl and then pop-dot it to give the page some dimension. I love it!

Oh, did you notice the ribbon I used? It says "awesome" all over it. When I was at my lss the other day, Noémi basically made me buy it, lol! You see, I say "awesome" all the time. All. The. Time. So I gave myself the challenge to use it as soon as possible. Worked out great! ;)

I also used the only stamp I use on a regular basis, the dots from Prima. Love it!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Swiss Dots;
Patterned paper: American Crafts "Teen" collection;
Letter stickers: American Crafts Remarks in JFK Color Sets 1&2;
Journaling spot: Making Memories Journaling Stickers in Whimsy;
Stamp: Prima;
Ribbon: American Crafts;
Punch: Fiskars;
Pen: Sakura Identi-Pen;
Ink: Tsukineko;
Other: Pop-dots; Stickles in Icicle;

More Scrap Within Reach Sneak Peeks!

I told you before: these lines are gorgeous!
I can't wait to get my hands on them.
And check out the letters...
Do you notice anything different from the ones from the previous collections?
They are letter *stickers*!
Yes, stickers!
Not thin chipboard.
Those were nice.
These are awesome! I'm using that word especially for Noemi, JJ and Erin ;)

Nikki Sivils' Website is now LIVE!

Nikki and her husband Dan worked hard to get the Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker website up and running. You can check it out here. It's so exciting to be able to see the 6 collections that will be coming out at CHA! You can get a sneak here, but if you go on the website, you can see each individual paper, paper pads, stampies, chipboard albums, brads, craft flags and bread(less) tabs.

I must share with you one of my favourite stamps in all the sets. Can you guess which one it is? It's from the U R My Favorite collection:

"All others will be TOAD" ?!?! How adorable is that????

A fairytale (um... fairynightmare)

Once upon a time, in a backyard somewhere in Canada, there was:
-a pool waiting to be swam in;
-a gazebo waiting to be lounged under;
-a bbq waiting to be cooked on.

However, the rain kept pouring and pouring and no one was able to enjoy any of these things.

No one lived happily ever after.

The end.

You - Three Bugs in a Rug

For all you non-scrapbookers reading this, "Three Bugs in a Rug" is the manufacturer who makes the adorable paper found on this layout! ;)

I actually made most of this layout on National Scrapbooking Day in early May. Everything was finished but the journaling and title. It lay forgotten at the bottom of a pile on my scrap desk. When I cleaned-up the desk on Sunday night, I found it and decided to finish it up, finally!

I know the title isn't very imaginative, but this piece of Fancy Pants felt was calling my name, so I decided to go with that. I think it works! :)

Notice that this is not this year, but last summer. Almost everything is still true, except he doesn't watch Animals Mechanicals anymore and he talks a lot more clearly now!

Supplies:
Patterned paper: Three Bugs in a Rug and SEI;
Epoxy stickers: MOD by Autumn Leaves;
Brads: American Crafts;
Journaling spot: Luxe and My Mind's Eye;
Sticker strip: Rouge de Garance;
Die-cut flowers: unknown;
Pen: Zig Writer;

Random Saturday

First, let me start with a toot! CARDS magazine just requested a card for their December 2009 issue! Woo hoo! I was hoping they'd request a card made with Scrap Within Reach papers, but it didn't happen. However, the card they did request was made with American Crafts papers, which makes me think it just might be good enough for their DT call. My 2 layouts are done, my altered project also. Looks like I am ready to submit!

In other news, my SWR DT pal Jennifer celebrated her birthday on the 9th of July. She has decided to host a giveaway to celebrate! If you want to win the Cornish Heritage Farms stamps you see on the right, click on the image and leave Jen a comment! Good luck!

Just below that image, you can click to get a chance to win your choice of My Stamp Box clear stamps (sorry, open to US and Canada only).

I Love Us. *Scrap Within Reach*

When I finally accepted the fact that Keith was falling asleep on the sofa and there was no way we were going to keep watching "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (yes JJ, I still have the DVDs and I'm almost ready for the next season!), I decided to go downstairs and scrap a little. So, at 11 pm after watching a teenage girl killing demons, I came up with this:

I love it! You will notice that I have finally invested in Martha Stewart's butterfly punch since making this layout. I've been wanting to add butterflies to everything these days, perhaps to make up for the dreadful weather we've been having here. Since JJ isn't always around for me to borrow the punch from, I now have my own.

Speaking of JJ, the distressed/ripped/inked edging is a total influence of scrapping with her! She does this like no other and I decided to give it a go. JJ will also be happy to know that I used my Riptide Glimmer Mist on the big heart. Very cool!

Of course, the star of this layout is the paper. I used mostly Scrap Within Reach's "Afternoon Tea" collection, with a little "The Cottage" to break up the girly colour!

Supplies:
Patterned paper: Scrap Within Reach "Afternoon Tea" collection in Chantilly Cream, Spiced Plum and Raspberry Lace; Scrap Within Reach "The Cottage" collection in Whimsical;
Letter stickers: Scrap Within Reach "Afternoon Tea" collection;
Chipboard hearts: American Crafts; Heidi Swapp;
Date Sticker: Making Memories in Whimsy;
Spray: Tattered Angels' Glimmer Mist in Riptide;
Ribbon: Dollar store;
Punches: Martha Stewart;
Pen: Staedtler;
Ink: Nick Bantock in Van Dyke Brown;
Glitter glue: Ranger Stickles in Cotton candy;
Other: Fancy Pants pins in Sassy; Making Memories edge distresser; Carolee's Creations Ting a Ling paper clips in Love U;

Random Sunday

How are you all on this fine Sunday?
It's sunny and warm here today, different than the dreary and cold day we had yesterday.

Speaking of yesterday, it didn't turn out so bad after all.
Keith came home around 5:30PM, much earlier than I expected.
My brother Sylvain had called earlier to ask if he could come over with my mom and BIL.
I think they wanted to keep me company.
My mom got us some yummy chinese food.
Merci maman!

Keith is gone again today, however.
He left at 6AM and will probably be back at 6 tonight.
He told me sushi is on the menu tonight, so it's all good!

Right now, I'm outside under the gazebo.
Sean is playing with his Transformers.
Kira is playing in the sandbox with mittens on.
You read right.
Mittens.
She found them in the stairs (why they were in the stairs is a whole other story) and she decided she wanted to go to Snowy Mountain.
The Snowy mountain seen in this movie:

Aaaaah!

That explains it all, doesn't it?
