Friday TV viewing

To me, Fridays mean crop at Scrapbook Centrale and Battlestar Galactica. Yup, a sci-fi show. I guess when you're into Star Trek as much as we are, Battlestar Galactica is a given. Although both are not the same at all! I didn't watch every season, I'll admit. But last season, I decided to give it another try and join Keith in this weekly viewing habit. I have never strayed since.

Here's the basic plot: Human built machines to do stuff for them. Machines evolved and rebelled. Wiped out all but 50 ooo humans. Cylons (the robots) found a way to look human. They have now infiltrated the 50 000 humans. Who's gonna win?!

There's nothing about this show I don't love. And I'll tell you a something: I secretly wish I was Starbuck! Man, she can kick a**!!!!!

*****
Dollhouse. This show just started a few weeks ago.
I had to watch, of course, because it's from creator Joss Whedon. You know...? Of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly fame? and let's not forget Toy Story! ;P Buffy and Angel got their fair share of airtime. Firefly never got the chance it deserved. Whedon is a master of witty dialogue. If you never watched his shows, I bet you never realized they were funny, right?
So this is what I'm expecting from Dollhouse. After watching 2 episodes, I haven't seen that though. The premise is this, from what I could gather from these 2 episodes: people give up 5 years of their lives for money. Their personnalities are erased and then they are implanted with new ones depending on what the client wants. You need the best hostage negociator in town? Done. You need a fun living girlfriend? Sure! I'm not sure how this one will turn out, but I'm sticking with it. TV Gal says it gets better after the 4th show, and I always trust TV Gal! :)

*****
How about that, drama that takes place in Toronto. Cool! Flashpoint.
Swat team. Snipers. Hostage negotiators. A totally likeable cast and *sigh* Veronica Mars' dad. I like it. Deserves a better slot than Friday nights.
*****
Raising the Bar.

I've watched 2 episodes of this legal drama. I have probably 5 or 6 on my PVR.... Doesn't bode well. Although it's nice to see Gunn from Angel again!

Simple card

Here's the card I made using the new collection from Scrap Within Reach, Industrial Park. All papers and the chain rub-ons are from the collection. I'm not one to use this word usually, but I must say the rub-ons are delish!!! They go on smooth as buttah. Or, as my pal Noémi would say: "you just look at them and they jump on the page"! Awesome, I tell ya!

Check out what other members of the DT have made using SWR products here!

Stay tuned, I'll soon be posting a mini-album using an awesome acrylic album by Clear Scraps as well as the SWR Industrial Park collection!

Thursday TV habits

Thursday is a day where I always sing a little "Ode to my PVR". If I had to find blank tapes and program my VCR for all these shows, I'd go nuts!!!

First is Survivor.
I'm still watching this show. It's fun, what can I say? Love the challenges, love the blindsides, love Jeff Probst... Now, if they could only make a "Survivor: Nunavut" we'd be talking! ;P

*****

Then there's Private Practice.

Love the cast, an entertaining hour of television. Not ground breaking, not award-worthy, but fun nonetheless.

*****

Here is Hell's Kitchen.

Now that's a fun show! Chef Ramsey is awesome, don't you think? He's rude, but somehow I don't mind it here. When they sign up for the show, they know what he's like.... So learn to live with it!

*****

Grey's Anatomy.

It's gotten a lot of flack recently. People say it's not as good as it used to be. Perhaps. But when I watch television, I just want to forget about everything. I want to just enjoy a fun-filled evening. and this show does that for me. As for the McDreamy vs McSteamy debate: I'm a McSteamy kinda girl! I loved Eric Dane in Charmed and he's not letting me down here! And I love him with Little Grey!

*****

ER's last season.

It survived so many cast changes, and survived it well. This is a show where the setting is more important than its characters. Sure, we have to like the cast, but it's the storylines that keep us there.

*****
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
*sigh* I miss Grissom. And Warrick. And Warrick's smile, and hair, and green eyes... But I digress. Love this show. Love it. Love it. Have I said how much I love it?

Thanks for reading again today!

Day 2 of my TV viewing

Seeing as I got no comments whatsoever on yesterday's post, I think perhaps this is boring for you, lol! But since I have nothing else to blog about, I'll keep going anyway.

First off, there's Lost.

I always enjoyed Lost, but I was never completely enthralled. It was just something to watch. We even considered stopping watching, but we didn't because when you invest many seasons in a show, you want to know what happens next.

Then Caro made me discover this blog. I can't explain why, but it makes watching the show so much more fun! Now, I always look forward to Wednesdays!!

******

Now, we have Bones. Fun mysteries, witty banter and Angel in a suit??? Perfect!!!

******

Finally, there's Big Love. The life of a polygamist family living in the suburbs. They are as normal as a polygamist family can be, not the creepy kind! Fun!

Seeing that I got no comments whatsoever on yesterdays post, I think perhaps this is boring for you, lol! But since I have nothing else to blog about, Ill keep going anyway.

Hi, my name is Claude and I'm a TV addict.

And I make no apologies for my addiction. We don't go out much, we are homebodies. I do other things like play with my kids and scrapbook. But at the end of the day, there's nothing I like more than to curl up on the couch with my DH and watch TV. Good shows, confusing shows, "fluff" shows... I thought I'd take you through my 7 days of tv viewing so that you have an idea of what we watch. Perhaps I can make you discover some shows... and perhaps you can tell me about others. Now mind you, there are many tv stations I don't have, like the Movie Network or the CW. So as much as I'd like to watch, let's say Entourage (it used to play on Bravo! Canada, but no more...), I can't. I do end up watching it online, but not on a regular basis. But I'll talk about that later.

Keep this in mind: we don't watch all these shows live. Our PVR records them and we watch them when we have the time. Sometimes, we are 3-4 episodes behind for a few shows. It's also fun to be able to FFW through the commercials!

Also, there are some shows that only *I* watch. DH has no interest in them. I'll watch those when he's not home or when he falls asleep next to me on the couch! ;)

Since today is Tuesday, let me start with shows that will play tonight (well, actually, I think there's a presidential address tonight, but you know what I mean!)
*****
First off, here's The Mentalist. It's okay, but I'm not certain we'll keep watching for much longer. Simon Baker is captivating in his role (not to say yummy on the eyes!), but I'm not sure that'll be enough to keep us watching. The resolutions to the "crime of the week" seem to come way too easy. But it's still fun to watch... for now
*****
Next is 90210. Need I say this is one of those shows that DH doesn't watch?!
It doesn't come close to the original, but perhaps that's just because I'm not 16 anymore! :) Then again, it's a guilty pleasure and I love it! I could do without Annie's incredibly annoying facial expressions, but that's just a small issue. And can I just say I love Adrianna?! Love her!
*****
American Idol. Yes, I still watch.
Other than Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, I don't listen to any of the winners' music. But I still watch. Because it's fun. Because it's something to watch. Because they do something I would've liked to do with my life had I been born with a voice that gave me the opportunity.
*****
And finally, Project Runway Canada.
A few years ago, they showed Project Runway on NBC for 3 episodes before moving it to Bravo! I think it was to grab a new audience. Unfortunately, I don't have the Bravo! channel, I have Bravo! Canada. Which means that I did not get to see the rest of the season!!! Do I have to say I was pissed?!!!!?! But now, we have our own show on CTV and I *heart* it so much! (DH doesn't watch, btw!) I'm not big into fashion, as you know if you've seen how I dress, but I wish I was, lol! It's still very fun to watch. How they can make these clothes in only a few days is amazing!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Wednesday tv habits! TFL!

Another week begins

Thoughts for today.

1. Laundry needs to be put away, beds need to be changed, bathrooms need to be cleaned... *sigh*

2. I must print out pics for my Scrap Within Reach project I'm working on right now!

3. If I see another Dora or Caillou episode, I will go completely nuts!!!

4. I should probably have breakfast, Ive been awake for hours now

5. The Oscars were fun last night. I usually end up being a little bored, since I usually haven't seen most (if not all) of the nominated movies. But I was entertained last night. Must watch Slumdog Millionaire now!

6. Man, this coffee is good!

7. Have a good day everyone, thanks for reading! :)

Scrap Scheme #14 and a few photos!

This was our inspiration for Scrap Scheme #14.

Here is what I came up with. A simple page about my dad before he was my dad. I'm glad I got this picture scrapped! Don't forget to show us your own takes using this inspiration piece. There are always awesome prizes to be won! Simply link us to your layout in the comments section below this post.

********

Here are a few pictures I took of Sean. A few weeks ago, he lost his first tooth: bottom-front-right. Now it's hilarious because his bottom-left tooth is shifting to the right! So now he has one tooth in the middle and two small spaces on each side! I love to ask him to smile for me!

Scrap Within Reach layout

Here it is, my first SWR layout. The design is definitely not the best. I think I wanted so much to show as much stuff as possible that I didn't quite scrap in my usual style. I just want to make Carolynn and company proud! :)

But admit it, these papers are yummy! They are so thick and easy to work with. And the distressed look is awesome. These papers and letters are from the Elliot collection.

TFL!

Random pics... and 2 toots!

If you follow my Project 365 blog, you've seen the top picture already. This is when we were celebrating my brother's birthday this past Saturday. He is one of the most expressive person I know, lol!
******

And how sweet is Lionel, my pal Noémi's son?!?! They came over the other day and I snapped this pic when he was still bundled up in his car seat! Love him! :)
******
I may get to repay for my laptop sooner than expected! Scrapbooking and Beyond requested 2 more layouts for the next Winter issue. All of them are of Sean, he'll get quite a display in the mag! Woohoo!!!

A cartoon and a layout!

Here is the layout I made for Scrap Schemes a few weeks ago. I had a spelling mistake and I wanted to fix it before posting it here. This may not be the best picture of my mom, but It's the last picture I have of my parents together. My dad passed away only a few months later. TFL.

I got this in my inbox a few days ago and it made me chuckle. I thought you might enjoy! :)

A toot and a layout!

Scrapbooking and Beyond just requested a winter layout, only a few hours after I submitted it! Gotta love that! I love my page, but I think it's more the cute story that caught Jane's eye ;) You'll see what I mean when the issue comes out... in a looooooooooong time! After all, it's for the Winter 2010 issue ! I hope it doesn't look too outdated by then, LOL! (gosh I use exclamation points way too much)

*******

Here's a layout I made following the challenge on the Mix It Up blog. Bling had to be used in an unusual way. I had these 2 Kaiser rhinestone circles i my stash. I used the small one as-is and I cut-up he second one to use at the top left and near the heart. I don't think it's actually used in an unusual way, but just the fact that I am using bling is unusual!!! Hope you like!

It's been a few days

My last post was about Sean's loose tooth, right? Well, it's not loose anymore, it's gone! We were at the grocery store on Sunday afternoon, after a delish brunch at a breakfast place near our place called Turquoise. At some point Sean, who was walking ahead of me, turned around with shock on his face and an outstretched hand. There was the tooth! As I said in my previous post, I didn't want to give him money because it doesn't mean anything to him. Yes, he has to learn about the value of money, but I can teach him that with the money he gets on Christmas or his birthday. I wanted something fun from the tooth fairy, not a teaching tool! I was going to get him a Peek-a-Pooh or some other trinket, but he ended up getting a Transformer, Patrol Bumblebee to be exact. I didn't want to give him a big gift like that at first, because I don't want him to expect a big toy every time he loses a tooth. But we got a bunch of Transformers at Toys R Us since they are half-price and Sean's birthday will be here before we know it, so it was just easier to do that. He was so thrilled this morning when he discovered what the tooth fairy had left him! He has ugly-winter-hat-hair on these pics, but he's so cute, you wont notice! ;P

In other awesome news, I registered Sean for kindergarden this morning! Time goes by so fast! I really, really, really hope he can go to the school that is only a 5-minute walking distance from our house. You'd think it would be a given, but it's not. There's a little girl who lives a few houses down from us and she didn't get a spot in this year: and she had *already* done a whole year there last year!!!!!!!!!

I also filled a request for Sean to be evaluated to see if he'll need some extra help with the french language. As you know, he understands french perfectly, but doesn't speak it. We'll see. Here he is in front of the school he will (hopefully!) be attending!

He's not even 5 and...

he's losing his first tooth!

Yup, you read right. Sean, who's going to be 5 in May, told me this morning that his front tooth was going to fall. I said "yes, one day it'll fall." But he still looked concerned and had a hand in his mouth. So I checked to make sure and lo-and-behold, the first tooth that ever came out is now really wobbly. From what I could read on the internet, it's not all that uncommon, but it's still a shock! We hadn't even discussed the Tooth Fairy yet, because we figured it was way too early. He knows about it from Caillou, but that's it. Now I've told him about her. I think she'll bring a small toy, since he could not care less about money right now! The TF will keep her hard earned money! ;)

*******

Here's another kind of toot: yesterday, I was featured on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog. I got the email from Kerry this past weekend, asking if it was okay to feature my layout. Um.... yeah! Very exciting to see my name in a post title on such a great mag's blog!

*******

In other new, guess where I am right now? At my kitchen table, drinking my coffee and writting this post on my own personnal new laptop! I have been wanting one for a long time now, I was probably one of the last person in the world who didn't have one. It's a nice widescreen one, even better than the one DH has for work! ;) Love it! So my awesome mom and I (hi mom, thanks for making this possible!) have both bought a laptop in the same week!

Scrap Within Reach at CHA!

Check it out! It's nice to see pictures. I'm waiting for my box to start designing! A few DT colleagues have gotten theirs, I'm so jealous! ;)

I wish I could write more tonight, but I'm exhausted and I need to go to sleep!

Je t'aime maman!

It's reveal time at Scrapbook Centrale!

Yup, the beginning of the month means the design team at Scrapbook Centrale gets to reveal what we did with our kits. We were playing with Basic Grey's Bittersweet collection. I didn't think I'd enjoy this collection as much as I did. The embellishment stickers are addictive, let me tell ya!

Here is DS with his paternal grandfather back in August.
My pal JJ's sweet daughter, Rhys.

DD with her loving uncles back at Easter 08.

And three cards for my pals!

Make sure to check out the awesome work of the other dt members!

I got an email yesterday from Jane at Scrapbooking and Beyond. She was telling me the last 2 layouts she requested got there safe and sound (dontcha just love it when they let you know?!) She also requested another layout! Woo hoo!!!
