More projects for Scrapbook Circle

Here are 2 other layouts I made with the June kit from Scrapbook Circle. I love how layouts can come out looking so different using the same exact kit for both. Seems like this month, Kira was my muse. All my layouts for Circle were of her! (You can see the other layout here.)

Here is a little wooden box from the dollar store that I altered with the kit. My husband was complaining that Kira's hair things were all over the place, so now they have a home!

I apologize for the poor picture quality. Everything is on the dark side and/or slightly blurry. The weather has been really bad here, rainy for days now, so I didn't have good light to photograph my projects.

Thanks for stopping by!

Witch or Cowboy?

Here's another instance of a scrapbook page where the picture doesn't go directly with the story. I had a picture that I loved but had no (interesting) story to go with it. I had a story that begged to be told but no photo attached to it. What's more important to me? That the story match the picture? Or that the story be told? I chose the latter. Don't feel obligated take pictures of everything. Sure, more pictures are better than none. But it's no fun to feel "obligated", is it? As long as the story is told, that's what matters!

Scrapbook Circle July kit sneak peek!

Here's the peek Lia posted on the Scrapbook Circle blog. These kits sell out fast, so hurry and place your order!!

This seems like such a happy kit, doesn't it?!!!

My Babies & Me

I made this over a year ago. It is part of my Cuba album. I took these pictures at arm's length. Granted, they are not the best, but I love them anyway! :)

Some fun links!

As you may or may not know, JJ made me discover Google Reader quite a while back and I love it! If you love reading blogs but you don't have them all in one place, here's my first fun link of the day: Google Reader

*****

In my Reader, I have Pioneer Woman's Photography blog, also suggested by JJ. She is funny and always has great tips on photography, Photoshop and actions.

She recently gave a link to a tutorial on how to digitally lose 10 lbs using Photoshop. Great tip and very easy to do.

*****

Another blog in my Google Reader is Zap2It's Tv Gal. Her job is to watch TV and then write about it. How cool is that? She's a critic, but not the kind of critic who feels they are too good for anything on TV. She watches TV for the pure fun of it. She made me discover many shows (I started watching Veronica Mars because of her). She's sad alongside us when a great show is cancelled (again with Veronica Mars...) Fun, Fun!

*****

I recently added CNN's Top Stories to my Google Reader. Yes, you get a *lot* of updates, but you can easily erase them. At least, you get a feel of what is going on in the world, even if you only read the headlines and not the actual articles. It's especially good if you are like me and don't like watching the news on TV.

Mommy, Iss a Circle - Scrapbook Circle June Kit

Here it is, my first official layout created for Scrapbook Circle. I love working with these fun, bright papers. Cosmo Cricket and Fancy Pants mix so well, don't they? To see the kit I worked with, check out yesterday's post. TFL!

Scrapbook Circle June kit

How awesome is this kit??! Beautiful, bright Fancy Pants and Cosmo Cricket papers, great chipboard and plenty of extra embellishments. I absolutely fell in love with those chipboard numbers when I got my kit! To order, check out Scrapbook Circle.

Keep checking my blog in the next couple of days, I will be showing you the layouts I made with this kit! :)

Here is an older layout of Kira last summer. I love the Travel line by American Crafts!

Hat Trouble

Kira back in 2007. Barely one year old!

Now *that* was cool!

Oh yeah! Last night, we finally went to see the new Star Trek movie and let me tell ya, we were not dissapointed. I'm not gonna say anything about the movie, because I'm going to see it again on Monday with JJ and I don't want to spoil it for her, but I can attest that the critics have been right: this is a good one. I especially love the humor in it. Kinda felt like a Peter David book brought to the screen (okay, 99.9% of you have no idea who I'm talking about. David writes Star Trek books and he has a great sense of humor. He's my favourite ST author.)

What else made this movie great? Um... let me think.

Oh yeah! Him!

Chris Pine is yummy as Jim Kirk! ;) I'm allowed to say this because one of the previews we saw before the movie was for Transformers, and Keith got an eyefull of Megan Fox. He did not even try to hide his smile! Please refer to this post if you have no idea what I'm talking about. For that, here's another picture! ;)

*****

In other news, I got the Summer 2009 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker in the mail yesterday. You can find my layout on page 116.

There are also some other great things to be found in this issue:

First of, my cousin/friend Caro is featured in an article on page 84 (former DT colleague Julie Savoy is on page 86.). How cool is that? I've always called her the Queen of Scrap, it's not for nothing! There are plenty of her layouts for you to feast your eyes on! She was also asked to try out for the cover. Her layout was not the chosen one, but it is awesome! You can find it on page 8.

My pal Erin also has a layout in there, on page 30. It's one of my favourite of hers, glad it's in there for all of you to see!

On this first real warm day of the season, I thought I'd bring you a Christmas layout! You've seen the picture before, but the layout is new. TFL!

New look + some fun links

No, *I* don't have a new look, my blog does! You like? I fell in love with these owls and I could not pass up the chance to use them. The best part? Both the background and the header were free!!! If you want your own check out Shabby Blogs.

*****

Okay, if you have the Threading Water punch and you are looking for a new way to use it, check out Crystal (aka Scrapper Mom)'s blog post. I never thought of trying that and now I can't wait to give it a shot!

*****

What other fun link have I discovered lately? Well, my cousin Caro has this new blog about her different thrift finds. Very cool! She has inspired me to redecorate as soon as our living room/dining room/kitchen are repainted.

*****

Oh, and what are friends for if not to boast when they make it on an amazing design team?? Yes, my dear friend JJ was asked to join the inaugural DT of Crazy Daisy Kit Co. She is an amzing scrapper and it's time she got the recognition she deserves! Love you, girl! ♥

Layout - I Made the Right Choice

Here is a layout I made using the beautiful Black River Designs papers I won on the Mix It Up challenge blog, hosted by fellow Scrapbook Circle DT member Mélanie Blackburn.

I covered some American Crafts butterflies that I'd had in my stash for over 2 years. I like the end result! The Bazzill Pompoms are some of my favourite things to play with these days! TFL!

Card - Scrap Within Reach Emerson collection

Here it is, the Emerson collection by Scrap Within Reach! This is such a happy collection. It was in reprint, so the DT only just got their hands on it. I love it!

Oh, and how about those hat pins?! Aren't they cool? I got a box of 145 for 1$ on clearance at Wal-Mart. Gotta love a good deal! :)

Layout - Funny Talk (Scheme 20)

Here is the layout inspired by Scheme 20 on the Scrap Scheme blog.

I was inspired by all the nice, bright colours. It was nice to use up some of my circle embellishments, like Scenic Route chipboard circles, Fancy Pants felt and even a dollar store acrylic embellishement (HEY)!

I also covered a few raw chipboard with Basic Grey Lime Rickey papers and colored a cute Imaginisce stamp with watercolor pencils and a blender.

If you can't read the journaling, check out this post. I took it litteraly from there. Just scroll down a bit.

Check out this awesome GIVEAWAY!!

My design team colleague Danielle is having an awesome giveaway on her blog!!! You can post up to 5 comments every day and we have 2 weeks to get the comments to 2,000 for the Bind It All and 3,000 for the SLICE! Isn't that worth a minute of your time??!

Layout - First Jump

My big boy is 5 today and I thought I'd share a layout of him jumping off a diving board for the first time last summer. TFL!

Layout - Love Those Leaves!

There are no trees on our lawn and not all that many in the park, so the kids don't often get to play in the leaves. Sean had a blast when we went to my cousin Nadyne's place. There are so many trees in her backyard, the entire lawn was covered in colourful leaves!

Publication Requests from Canadian Scrapbooker!

Woohoo! Canadian Scrapbooker has requested 4 layouts: two for their Fall issue and two for a special reprint of the special issue Basics Volume 1. Both will be released September 1st, 2009. I will only be sending three of the four layouts, however, since one of them was already requested for the September 09 issue of Scrapbook Trends. If that's the worst problem I have, I'll take it! ;)

********

In other news, Sean will be turning 5 tomorrow. Yup, my big boy will be 5 years-old! Here's a little conversation I had with Mister-Man yesterday (if we are friends on Facebook, you've already read this!)

Sean: "Cats don't like baths?"
Me: "No, they don't."
Sean: "Why?"
Me: "They're scared of water, but I don't know why."
Sean: "Baths are for people, not animals... Except elephants and hippopotamus!"

Muffin Tin for Recipes - Scrap Within Reach

I am not a cook. Not at all. I take no pleasure in cooking whatsoever. There are some things that I do have to make over and over again though, because my kids ask me to. However, although I know exactly how to cook these things, I always second-guess myself as to the ingredient quantities. Was that 1 tsp or 1 tbsp?? For months now, I've had those recipes on random sheets of paper on my fridge. Since I don't like clutter, I always thought it looked bad. When I saw this muffin tin at the dollar store, I had the idea to use it as a kitchen decoration where I could store those recipes. On there, you can find the ingredients to the three recipes I make the most often.

Simply cut your Cottage paper to size and glue to your muffin tin. I used Zip Dry glue. Once dry, use an x-acto knife to cut out three of the circles. This step is actually a lot easier than I would it was going to be. Print your recipes, punch out the circle and glue to the bottom of the muffin tins. Use rub-ons to add the recipe name. Add buttons, flowers, gems and title, pop-dotting every other letter. Add magnets to the back and place on your fridge. Voila!

Supplies:
Muffin tin (for 4 muffins)
Scrap Within Reach patterned paper, The Cottage collection;
Scrap Within Reach chipboard letters, The Cottage collection;
Arctic Frog rub-on letters;
American Crafts plastic flowers;
Kaiser Crafts pearls;
Dollar store gems;
Random buttons;

Kira-isms

Yesterday, Sean and Kira were pretending to be the Wonder Pets. One of them would be in trouble and the other would save them. The animal in trouble always calls the Wonder Pets on the phone to ask for help.

So Sean "calls" Kira for help. He was pretending to be stuck behind the cushions of the couch. He called them "marshmallows" because I was washing the beige covers so it was down to it's bare white state. He says: "Help! I'm stuck in the marshmallows!" Once Kira saved him, they switched roles. Kira called Sean and said: "Help! I'm stuck in the mushrooms!" :) She never realized that was wrong, precious girl!

*******

This morning, the kids were eating some Frosted Flakes cereal. What does Kira say when Sean walks away from his unfinished bowl? "Sean, you have to finish your Frosted Snowflakes!"

*******

Once the cereal was finished, I asked Sean to go wash his hands because he was sticky. Kira says matter-of-factly: "I'm not sticky, I'm just pretty!" Yes you are sweetie, yes you are!

Softball widow once again

May has come and that means I am a softball widow again. This morning is Keith's first game of the season in the lbma. Actually, he's playing two games today. He was asked to come in as a replacement in another team for a guy that couldn't make it today. My husband has become quite the player and coaches want him on their team if they are short a person. Playing 2 games in a row after the whole winter off, he's gonna hurt tomorrow, lol!

I'm happy he gets to play again. He's been going through a rough patch and he needs to be able to relax and have fun.

I'm only sad that I wont get to crop with my friends on Friday nights until the summer is over. But we'll find a way to get together anyway, I'm sure!

*****

Speaking of friends, JJ has added some new items to her store Threading Lightly, including some wristlets for your point and shoot camera. Check out a sample:
She also added this SLR camera strap. Isn't it gorgeous?

Layout - The Pout of a Hungry Princess

Kira, when she was just 10 months old. How time flies!!

I used Scrap Within Reach's Afternoon Tea collection for this layout. It matches incredibly well with the Eva collection from Basic Grey.

At least it's not Megan Fox...

Okay, I want to make one thing clear before I begin: I love my husband deeply and he loves me. We would ever, ever stray. Ever. But we also believe it's okay to find others attractive. And while we don't go around constantly saying "Ooh, check her out" or "He's yummy", we do tell each other when someone grabs our attention.

So tonight, when he got home, Keith told me how Wolverine was the #1 movie last weekend and that Ryan Reynolds is now slated to have his own spinoff. Then he says: "I didn't know he was married to Scarlett Johansson. The a******!" I start chuckling and pretending to be offended. Then what does he say?? "Well, at least it's not Megan Fox!" Really? Really??

So I feel I now have the right to do this post. A total eye-candy post. A "he is drool-worthy-and-I get-weak-in-the-knees-when-I-see-him" post. Take that, dear husband of mine! ;)

Let's start with the best of the best. When I see him, I can only sigh. Nico, my dear Nico. In case you don't know, he is the winner of "So You Think You Can Dance Canada". The guy has it, what can I say??

As for Justin Hatley (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow from Smallville), it's mostly the arms that make me go Wow! Yup, those arms are sex-ay!

And now that I think of it, the previously mentioned Ryan Reynolds is not bad himself! We are far from "Two Guys, a Girl ans a Pizza Place" !I'm done for now!

To all the ladies with my kind of taste in men: You are welcome!
