Design Team reveal - Doodlebug Designs

This month, the Scrapbook Central DT got to play with Doodlebug products. I was working with orange (Doodlebug calls it "tangerine!), one of my favourite colours to scrap with. Can I just say that the crushed velvet cardstcok is absolutely yummy?! You can't tell from the scans/photos, but everything that is dark orange is crushed velvet cardstock. Trust me, you want to get a few sheets of those! To see what else the design team came up with, click here.

Four publication requests in 3 days... somebody pinch me!

I am in serious shock right now! As you may have read in a previous post, Jane from Scrapbooking and Beyond contacted me to publish one of my pages. I love working with them, so I was thrilled!

Then came an email from Brittany at BHG Scrapbooks Etc. She requested one layout for the January issue. Um, yeah!!!! "That's the pinnacle of scrappy success in the pub world" as my scrap pal Barb so perfectly worded!

And now this morning, Style & Scrap requested 2 layouts for their winter issue!

Now, if only KI Memories could pick me as a new design team member, I'd be floating so high I might never touch the ground again! :) Wish me luck!

I'm leaving you with a layout I made about 2 months ago. This was last summer, in case you are wondering why K looks so tiny!

Scrapbooking & Beyond toot!

I'm still in shock at how fast this went! Yesterday I decided to submit *at large* a page I had made for a Simple Scrapbooks call (SS didn't pick it up, obviously!) A mere 2 hours later, Jane from Scrapbooking & Beyond emailed me asking if she could pub the page! How cool is that?! I love working with her, she is very sweet and quick in her replies. Yup, I'm over the moon right now!

Random thoughts today

On Saturday, it was my 15 year reunion for La Dauversiere. I'm glad I got to see a lot of my friends from back then. It's nice to see we all became good people. Of course, Saundra was the one I was looking froward to seeing the most. We were best friends from 6th grade all the way through high school. We drifted apart after that, but we had a lot of fun talking. A bunch of other great people were there, too many to count. I was dissapointed, however, that Dominic and James weren't there. It would've been nice to see them again. :(

Tried out for the Fancy Pants DT and didn't make it. Oh well, my time will come! The DT I really want is KI Memories, so this was practice! :)

Here are a few of my latest layouts. Click to see them bigger, you'll be able to read the journaling.

Me... As told by Flickr

I was reading Miss Mel's blog and she had this cool Flickr quiz that I decided to take myself. Here, in her words, is how to make your own (I'm too lazy to come up with different wording!)
If you want to join in the fun, type your answer to each of the following questions into Flickr search. Using only the images that appear on the first page, choose your favorite image, then copy and paste each the URL's into the mosaic maker (3 columns, 4 rows). Enjoy!

Here are the questions:
1.What is your first name? (Claude)
2.What is your favorite food? (sushi)
3.What high school did you attend? (La Dauversiere)
4.What is your favorite color? (olive green)
5.Who is your celebrity crush? (Jason Dohring!)
6.Favorite drink? (Smirnof Ice)
7.Dream vacation? (Anywhere where I can have a drink in a coconut)
8.Favorite dessert? (chocolate cheesecake)
9.What do you want to be when you grow up? (stay-at-home-mom)
10.What do you love most in life? (my family)
11.One word to describe you? (artistic)
12.Your Flickr name? (imzadi)

It's official, I'm not a Master

I was pretty sure I wasn't a Master. After all this time, I was certain the calls had already been made. But I had a sliver of hope that I could be a runner-up. Tiny hope. And it didn't happen. Am I sorry I entered? Nope, not at all. I really want to do something big for my scrapbooking career. Which is why I've entered this contest and all these manufacturer's DT searches. I want my name out there. I want the challenge. That's when I do my best work. When I'm challenged. I know I'm inconsistent in my scrapbooking. Some pages are good and others are blah. It seems like some people never have blah pages. Then again, maybe they just don't post the ones they aren't completely happy with! I post everything. I love sharing my work, I love showing off my kids! Anyway, back to what I was saying. I'm an inconsistent scrapper. I know that. And I need to fix that if I want to advance to bigger and better things. Perhaps if I could find my Style. Or at least "define" it. I'm kind of all over the place with some really poor results sometimes. Sigh.

Anyway, here are 2 recent layouts that I completely love! The first one is based on Miss Mel's sketch for Simple Scrapbooks. It wasn't chosen for the mag, so here it is. If you don't know Melanie's work, make sure you check out her gallery! She is one of my favourite scrapper around! I am proud to have come up with a beautiful page using her sketch as inspiration!

And if you are wondering why I am not posting my MMM entry, it's because I am still hoping to get some (or all!) of these pages published enventually, either by MM or other mags. I just hope MM decides to pub my original entry so that I can get it back!

What do I love?

On Scrapbook Centrale, the DT is challenging you to scrap about what you love. Is it a dring? A sport? A TV show? Whatever it is, we want to know about it! Click on this link to see all the details. You could win a 15$ girft-card to Scrapbook Centrale! And why not participate in Ruth's Sketch Challenge also? :)

I will make my own layout for the challenge, but until it's finished, I really wanted to show you the mosaic I will be using. As you can see, I'm a huge tv, coffee, sleep-deprived addict! Do you feel like you know me a bit better? :)

Now, in case you don't know about this show, Entourage is about an up-and-coming actor and his best friends (his entourage!) I had heard about the show, but had never seen it. Then, when I got my PVR, I decided I would tape it (it plays on Showcase a few times a week.) I simply tell my PVR to tape it whenever it's on and every few days, I get to watch a fun little gem! Yes, there's cursing and nudity, so if you are easily offended, this is not for you. But give it a try! I didn't start watching it from the beginning and it was fine. I was captivated right away!

Here's a link I discovered yesterday when I was looking for a picture of a bed. It's quite cool. It's all about unusual beds!

Finally, here's a layout I did on NSD that I am just getting around to posting. Yes, Sean is 4 now, that's how behind I am in scrapping birthdays! Caro, when you come back, I'll give you a CD to burn his 4th birthday pics!

Fruit flies, be gone!!!

ARGH!!!!!!! It seems like we are infested by fruit flies. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but there are some flying around everywhere and we can't seem to get rid of them even though the fruits are all in the fridge! They bug me, really bug me, pun totally intended!!! :)

Here is a recent layout, one of my faves. I'm not sure if it's for the design or for the subject, but I love it!

7 years + 1 day ago....

I married my soulmate. My best friend. The best father in the world. The funniest person I know. The calmest person I know. The best son in the world (other than his own son!) The best husband in the world. The most patient, understanding man in the world. The most beautiful. The sexiest in white boxer shorts! And a lot more.

On august 4th, 2001, I married you and life with you is even better now. You've stuck around for the good and the bad, sometimes the very bad. You gave me 2 beautiful children. We've been together 13+ years and I don't regret a single day. Thanks for making my life better. Thanks for being you. Thanks for loving me even when I don't love myself.

I love you.

A nod to our DT on the Luxe Designs blog!!!!!!!

On August 1st, the dt at Scrapbook Centrale revealed their projects made with the great monochromatic lines Simply Luxe! They are originaly made to mix and match with other products, but we were challenged to use them by themselves.

This morning, Emily Adams of Luxe Designs gave us a nod on the Luxe blog!!! That is HUGE!! I am quite happy, but I must admit I am a little bummed also. The other girls did *much* better than I did with the kit... My stuff looks quite "beginner". Sigh. There is a link on the blog to see what we all came up with. Enjoy!

Memory Makers publication request!

Oh Yeah!!!!! I am quite the happy camper tonight! A few hours ago, I got a request from Memory Makers magazine to publish a layout with both Sean and Kira on it! My first time in the mag! I've been pubbed in their Oh! Baby book, but not the mag... until now! I see it as a good omen for MMM ;-)

Also, my 4 favourite dancers out of the 6 left on So You Think You Can Dance made it to next week's finale. I really like Chelsie and Mark, but they were my least favourites out of the 6.

As promised, here is my favourite dance from last night's show. Surprise, surprise, it's contemporary (sorry JJ!) It was so good, it made me forget it was a Celine Dion song...! The part where she jumps and he catches her mid-jump is amazing! Fast-forward to 0:39
